Best Veggies to Air Fry with Shrimp?

Shrimp cooks so fast in the air fryer. So it’s best to use quick cooking vegetables. And make sure to cut them small so that they cook around the same time as the shrimp. OR, if the veggies are cooked faster, then remove them from the air fryer and cook the shrimp for the remaining time until they’re cooked.

  • Slices of zucchini or summer squash
  • If you like green beans, cut them in bite size pieces and blanch them first
  • Thin snow peas or thin french style green beans will cook around the same time as the shrimp.
  • Bell peppers that are cut small
  • Smaller and thin asparagus that’s cut short.
  • Sliced onions or shallots are great too.

What about air frying frozen vegetables?

Sure! You can air fry the frozen veggies with the shrimp. They might be a little soft and mushy. Also, the moisture will release from the veggies onto the shrimp. So it might take a few more minutes to cook the shrimp.

Freezing leftovers or meal prep

The shrimp and veggies can freeze great. Or if you’re meal prepping, these are great to freeze too and thaw when ready to eat. Just make sure they’re stored in air tight bags or containers. They can freeze for about 4 weeks in the fridge. Don’t wait too long because the quality of the shrimp will go down. It sucks to freeze food for too long and get freezer burn. What a waste!
