Home, exhausted and appreciative. CreativeLive.
Four and a half months of planning with Creativelive came down to three days. Those three days were so lightening fast, it was hard to remember what happened even ten minutes prior. And to think that we considered to not partake in teaching because we didn’t think we could share anything different that hasn’t already been taught. Thankfully, we came to our senses. We all have our own unique perspectives. Even if something has been taught or said before, it can still be valuable to someone out there.
Friends, we’re finally back home, ready to un-pack and pack up again for another week long trip. But before we get caught up in the planning of heading out again, we just wanted to say two words to you and to everyone on the CreativeLive team:
THANK YOU.
Maybe that just wasn’t enough. Here’s more:
WE ARE SO GRATEFUL.
and more….
WE WOULD NOT BE WHERE WE ARE NOW WITHOUT YOU.
and lastly….
ETERNALLY APPRECIATIVE FOR YOU ALL, OUR WORLD WIDE FAMILY.
much love,
diane and todd
Some instagram images @ToddPorter & @DianeCu from behind the scenes on the set of Creativelive:
The light in the Seattle location is incredible
We’ll never get bored of the Space Needle at sunset
On set the day before: the team is busy painting the classroom walls.
Diane brought some of her favorite props for the food images. Talk about a heavy carry-on!
more incredible light for the shooting segments
Jim made spring rolls for one of the pre-shows
… and he forgot to get the lettuce, so Diane made a quick emergency lettuce drop on air!

You two are such an inspiration. Glad the event went well!
You both were amazing. I learned, I laughed, I experimented (posting about it tomorrow!) and I cried with you! What a gift and blessing you both are. Could not be happier for you!
While it was an amazing experience to “attend” your CreativeLive workshop, I think the thing that impressed me the most is how the two of you are true to yourselves, whether in blogging or teaching or anything else. Who you are on your blog is the same as who you are in your teaching, so it felt completely natural to “see” you in this different context. Your passion and generosity of spirit come through–thank you, for who you are, and all you do.
What an inspiring three days! I loved every minute of what you both had to share. Getting to hear your unique perspective was incredibly encouraging in an industry that can sometimes feel very isolated and like people don’t really ‘get’ what you’re trying to do. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
I thoroughly enjoyed watching Diane and Todd on Creative Live. I was riveted to my seat for three days. Thank you so much for sharing so much of your lives and expertise with the world. I will never go to a restaurant shoot with the same mind set again…you’ve totally changed the way I see as well as the way I see my role as a photographer. I only hope that I will be able to attend one of your workshops and really get to know you better. I feel that I have made two new friends and look forward to following you online.
I had planned to watch only Thursday but ended up glued to the screen for all three days. What a fantastic workshop, you guys had such great energy and I learned a ton. I was especially impressed with the restaurant shoot. Thank you both so much! 🙂
Dear Todd & Diane,
I thoroughly enjoyed the workshop as there was so much to take away. Your sincerity and enthusiasm has indeed been inspirational. I love the synergy between the 2 of you. May you always be blessed with continued inspiration and bountiful love. Thank you for all the hard work you’ve put in for the workshop. xo Vasun
I saw the rebroadcasts on creativelive and you two were amazing! You have really passed on your knowledge and I now know what I can work on, and with, to evolve and take my (beginner) photography to a whole new level. Thank you for so much for sharing!
I watched the whole thing! You guys did great! I feel so inspired 🙂
It was so amazing and inspiring to ‘attend’ this workshop.
You two are so adorable together but also so relaxed in working together. Everything you did or said showed you both have a passion for what you do and you are so respectful towards each other. It made me think about myself, I can act frustrated when I’m tired and I should stop that. I saw that because of you!
Also, I will run to the store and Goodwill today to buy new linnens and plates in neutral colors to extent my prop collection 😉
Húge thank you from LA! And enjoy your well deserved vacation!
Having been a part of two food photography workshops at Creative Live, I wanted to say thank you for coming to your senses and realizing that you could present a unique perspective. Both your workshop and the one I attended previously have meant so much to me, in different (and some of the same) ways. I am eternally grateful that you decided to do the course. Thank you for an amazing three days. Enjoy your vacation; you deserve it!
You two were absolutely awesome, so refreshing and genuine. Thank you so much for sharing with us! You’ve already inspired me to begin shooting more food and just practicing every chance I get. Hope to see you teach again some day! You’re naturals!
Hola from Mexico! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. It was a great workshop and I loved your positive energy! And… I won’t be afraid of shadows any more 😉
It was totally worth to spend 3 days in front of TV (despite different time zone) and it was a pleasure to get to know you you by this workshop! The passion and joy you have (even in tears) is gigantic! Thank you for knowledge and inspirations! Smiles for you both 🙂
So awesome. I wasn’t able to catch it live due to travel but I snapped it up at the discounted price and can’t wait to watch it.
Oh I wish I was closer! Great job guys!
