you made my day, what a beautiful garden and a lovely clip! Hugs to your doggies, can’t wait to visit there one day. x
What an amazing garden you have! It’s like a paradise. I can see that Dante and Sierra are enjoying it very much, too. 🙂 And I can also imagine how much work you put into this place… It must feel so rewarding when you sit down at the end of the day, with a delicious dinner plate, prepared using fresh produce from your garden… Yes, “sanctuary” is a perfect word to describe your garden. 🙂
Cheers to you, guys, and greetings from Europe!
Hey guys, I love your website – you two already inspired me a hundred times! I just rented a piece of a community garden, so at last (after 2 years of longing and overboarding balcony) I will turn the dreams of a strawberry lawn and tomatoes to serve a hundred into reality…the garden as a sanctuary – I see what you mean.
All the best from Germany, thank you for sharing!
Very, very nice, guys. What you’ve created is so beautiful. ( I also liked watching your dogs).
I have total Growing Zone Envy. Try living in Zone 5 – it sucks!
it’s not easy to keep a garden as lovely as this… you must have put in a lot of love and labor into it.
thanks for inviting us over… it’s so relaxing…. actually it’s hypnotic…just a lovely feeling watching this video… and yeah gardens make me think of my mom,… every morning you’ll find her there tilling the soil, talking to her flowers… ok now im nostalgic..
thanks for sharing dianne and todd, you guys rock!
Right now very jealous; you have lemons and turnips and Colorado has snow and hail…yep, that’s a part of our ‘spring’ sometimes. We share a love of gardening and dogs…and taking photos of the dogs in the garden!
I used to plant more vegetables but as the neighbors trees have grown and my children have moved on; both the sun and demand for food is less so my garden has become more herbs than annual plantings. Leave it to Simon and Garfunkel to exact a plan but it was important that I have parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme!
Thank you so much for sharing! What a wonderful space. Our Weim loves the peppers, (bell, hot chili, and jalapeno) but they don’t love her. We’re excited about the our plumerias leafing out getting ready to bloom.
That is a beautiful garden :). I only discovered I like growing things this year, and so far I’ve only manage to kill some hydroponic herbs and start some flowers in pots around the house. Your blog is certainly an inspiration for me to continue :).
Also, what song was playing in the video? It was pretty awesome.
Emily- yes, don’t give up! The song is “Your Hand in Mine” by Explosions In The Sky.
Delia- Don’t worry, we’ve killed MANY plants too. Gardening is an evolving process with lots of failures and successes. But never give up and do exactly what you’re doing now: start in small stages. Have fun!
You really have a beautiful garden and it is evident that it is tended with love. I aspire to grow my own produce, but worry that I’ll kill it. I haven’t been able to keep a houseplant alive for more than a couple of months. I did manage to grow basil last year in an indoor container. I plan on buying a container to try herbs first and if I am successful, next year I’ll grow tomatoes, peppers and try peas.
Thanks for the inspiration.
What a Garden Paradise. Your labours of love are clearly apparent. I truly cannot imagine walking outside to pick a lemon, or an orange, or a kumquat… and I have never seen turnips grown so that only the end of the root is submerged in the earth. Your rose arch is glorious. The water lilies a fantasy… and the paths with the grasses and and herbs a maze of pleasure. I have a kitchen garden – not in barrels, but outside of my door built with up in brick beds. It is a beautiful yard and garden for a city lot… small because we live in a bungalow that spans most of the land space… but we do use every bit we can to plant what grows in our zone 3 climate. The trumpet flowers almost had me jumping with glee. The first time I ever saw them was last summer in San Fran in Union Square and I could not get over their beauty. Your dogs are so fortunate to have such a romping ground. What was the ground cover the one was laying in with the toys? It wasn’t grass… I haven’t seen anything like it here?
🙂
Valerie
Canadian Foodie- Wishing you a glorious garden with citrus, turnips and trumpet flowers one day! The ground cover is dichondra growing on the lawn.
Such a gorgeous place with everything your body and soul might need. Thank you for sharing.
Gosia- thank you. Our garden is our sanctuary. And definitely a physical labor of love.
So nice to see what others are doing in their gardens – and I’m thrilled to see that I’m in line w/my mentors (you guys really do inspire me!) as we just did a video of our gardens this past week as well! The dogs are quite entertaining and Todd’s interaction w/them is priceless; but then again, as someone who comes from the Walla Walla valley, I’m partial to anyone who grew up on a cattle ranch in Oregon! You guys are the best – thanks for sharing!
Smith Bites- we’ll wave to you when we drive through the Walla Walla Valley again!
Just lovely! Thank you for sharing and inspiring. After seeing your citrus trees earlier this year we were inspired to try growing our own- thank you! Loved that you included video of the dogs enjoying the yard as well, you can see they are very happy and content. Good job! Keep up the good work, we appreciate it.
Lori- great! which citrus trees did you get? we’re happy for you and your evolving garden.
Your dogs are really the stars of the show. So adorable! Was the one dog eating your strawberries? I didn’t know that dogs liked strawberries (says the ignorant cat person).
Merry- Yes, Dante LOVES strawberries. He’s get the sweet ones before we do!
Lovely. Happy Earth Day to you both!
Now I am more than inspired to start my container garden. Now, if only the deer and the ground hog………Hmmmmm.
Connie- deer? wow, you’re really in the great outdoors!
