Food Blog Forum Atlanta- Great new friends, Awesome event
Scott Hair of Steamy Kitchen kicks off the seminar
Food Blog Forum Atlanta seminar was a hit and a wonderful event where new friendships were made. Thank you to the beautiful city of Atlanta, Jaden Steamy Kitchen and Gwen Bunky Cooks for organizing and to all the attendees for making this event a huge success.
A huge shout out goes to the stellar panel of speakers as well. Thank you to John Kessler of Atlanta Journal-Constitution, James Andrews and Lauren Thomas from Everywhere , Cookbook author Virginia Willis, Alisa Barry of Bella Cucina, and Jaden of Steamy Kitchen. Their sessions on Working with Media Outlets and Branding were informative, everyone in the room had pages of notes from all their valuable information. We had a blast sharing two sessions on Food Photography.
Since we launched Food Blog Forum with our friend Jaden from Steamy Kitchenin March 2010, it’s been an amazing journey of community, friendships and learning. Not only have we met some of the most wonderful food writers, publishers and bloggers from all across the country, we’ve learned so much from everyone as well.
The whole Food Blog Forum community is about supporting one another and helping each other and we’re proud that we were able to organize an event where everyone can come together to learn, share and participate.
A final thank you to our sponsors who provided great support and giveaways! Viking Store, Chefs Catalog , Kitchen Aid, Whole Foods, Bella Cucina , Calpahalon, Showcase Photo & Video.

Wow, wow and more wow. Great event-wish I could have joined you guys for this one. The experiences in the viking kitchen look amazing. Your presentation with the tether sounds just genius! xo
I’m so upset I missed FBF, I always seem to find out too late. I didn’t see anything on the forum about the next one, but I hope there will be another soon, maybe New York area?
Todd and Diane
What a great weekend! I got a great deal of information from your seminar. It will be fun now trying to put it to use. Both of you are such great teachers! Thanks so much for being such giving people.
I was so sad that I missed this event because of a conflict that week-end!!! sounds amazing 🙂
Hi Todd and Diane:
Glad to see you made it home safely. The Food Blog Forum far exceeded our expectations AND we had a great time and made some new friends. Thank you so much for sharing your time and talents.
xo,
Carolyn
PS: Don’t forget the mushroom compost! 🙂
Wow! A tethered photo session. Sounds like you two figured out how to teach us bloggers how to shoot food. What a great idea. Wish I could have been there to witness your greatness!
I’m all with Jennifer at Savor. If you ever plan to go to Boston, I’ll be there with bells on to help set things up! xoxoxo, B
I am sorry that I missed the opportunity to meet you and learn some really good stuff. Hoping that there will be another FBF meet soon
I just finished drooling over the pictures you took over on Steamy Kitchen! What an event! I can’t wait until you guys do another one somewhere near ME! Maybe I’ll just have to start an FBF fund and start traveling around the country to each one that you do… I’m SURE my husband will go for that one, right?!?
Loved your part of the seminar, went home really excited about taking pictures and I think they look better already. Liked how you explained things in easy to understand terms for the novice. Hope to get so much better at the photo part. Thanks again.
Garlic knots look awesome! I must try to cook it!
What a wonderful seminar. I’m jealous – would have loved to have gone! I hope I can go to the next one. Thanks for such a great write-up about it!
Thanks again for bringing so much to this weekend. I had the best time and learned so much from you both. You’re such delightful people. I’m working on implementing some of what I picked up, and looking forward to next time!
Hi Guys! Begged Jaden to bring FBF to Boston so hope you are on board as well. Looks like a great event and thanks again for your generosity with sharing your photography knowledge. Love to DM you on twitter.
This looks like it was amazing and such a good time. I hope to be able to attend one of these one day. Great job! I’m glad it was so successful!
Todd & Diane ~
You two are just the nicest people ever and I just love the both of you! This event was only my second I’ve attended but it was just jam-packed with such great information, it’s going to take me months to remember/sort it all out. Your photography session was so helpful – I had several ‘light-bulb’ moments and I’m looking forward to putting those tips into action. Again, I thank you for your sweet spirits – looking forward to seeing you again soon (I hope you’re going to BHF10 in San Fran?)! Hugs!
I have to say that this was one of the best seminars I’ve been to. There was very little fluff and I walked away with lots of to-do items. Thanks White on Rice for your sessions on photography. The session on lighting was especially helpful for me. I hope BunkyCooks will plan another one for the ATL.
Meetups like this are by far the best
Seems like everyone had a great time and no one lost any appendages
Thanks for the recap! Looks like a huge success! Glad you had a good time. I have heard rave reviews!
Are you coming to Utah next? Maybe a winter wonderland fbf? Skiing is optional:) I have connections and would love to help plan a fbf in Utah! There are a lot of food bloggers begging for you to come:) Let’s chat:)
Diane and Todd, thank you so much for the wonderful information you passed along during your sessions! I wish I would have had a chance to chat with you about it because it was amazing. Even though I only have a point and shoot right now, the sessions were very beneficial for me and I feel like I am armed with knowledge to achieve better pictures!
Seething with jealousy at those lucky devils who got to attend! Glad to hear it was such a great experience!
Looks awesome!! Wish I could be there to attend…
We had such a wonderful time! Who knew Justin had such mad dumpling making skills? Your Saturday session on lighting was so very helpful as indoor lighting is something I struggle with. Thank you for a fun filled event full of smiles! You both Rock!!
My husband and I had such a wonderful time! The cooking demos on Friday were great. Who knew Justin had mad dumpling skills? The sessions you presented on Saturday were so very helpful as indoor lighting is something I struggle with. You are an inspiration! Thanks for a fun filled weekend full of smiles. You both Rock!
Thanks Diane and Todd for another amazing conference! The two photography sessions you did were fantastic — the slides, showing each different “version” of lighting or styling were great — thanks for being so generous with your time and knowledge.
Thank you so much for such a wonderful weekend. I learned a ton from your photography talks and I’ve already started trying to put it into practice. I surprised myself with food styling, but so far have failed with shooting manual. But I’m determined to get those backlight photos you showed us – so pretty! I really enjoyed meeting you – your photography is an inspiration 🙂
I can’t thank you enough for all the amazing information you shared. Your session on food styling was far and away some of the best knowledge I took away from that day! You two are truly the top in your profession and I’m excited that I was able to meet you and learn from you. Thank you again!
I am working on my recap of the seminar right now. My photos stink compared to yours, of course, but I am having fun putting it all together. Thank you so so much for your photography session- it was so great to see you in action- and it was fun to chat at the Spice Market party, too. Hope to see you two again soon!
I loved this conference and enjoyed all of the tips and information you shared. It was so great to meet you both in person. I could keep learning from you every day!!
I loved meeting the both of you and your presentation was so wonderful and informative. This was a wonderful conference, and I absolutely enjoyed every minute. I feel so lucky to have met y’all in person. My recap is coming tomorrow!
It was so great to meet you both and learn from the best talent! You guys are so sweet and I loved all the information you shared. I’m posting my recap in the a.m, and I love this recap. You guys are so awesome!
These FBF events look awesome. Please consider bringing one to Canada. Pretty please?
Thanks so much for sharing your infinite wisdom, Todd and Diane! I had the best time learning from you two. Hope you make your way down south again. Safe travels.
Great recap/photos/links. Looks like it was awesome.
Thank you for all of your efforts as well.. it was a great event and it would not have been possible if not for your generous nature in starting FBF (along with Steamy Kitchen) in the first place – all of us would not had this opportunity… I took away not only tons and tons of tips, ideas but most important a huge boost to my blogging confidence (I must!) but the most important thing for me at the end, more fun that getting swag bags and eating good food and visiting an awesome city, was leaving with my contact list full of new friends, with huge amount of talents. Thank you!
I also learned SO much from you this weekend! Thank you so much, you are great teachers.
I had such a good time at the event and thanks to you guys for making it all so fun and informative for us! Although I got to learn so much from your photography lessons but I still need to ask a few questions. Is it ok if I write to you?
Prerna – Of course! Anytime you have a question send us an email. We’ll be happy to help the best we can.
glad to hear it went so well; looks like a killer lineup! come back again!
One of these times the moons will align, we will all be in each other’s city (or at least the same city) and will be able to actually get together. Until then cyber-hugs will have to do.
Wish I had been there..or was gong to BlogHer even. Next year will be my year. A nursing infant just ins’t good carry on..and would more than likely interfere with many a good workshop. Sad I missed it but will be on the forums!
I learned so much from you at the event this past weekend. I can’t wait to start playing with the light and enhancing the quality of my images – I’ll need to break out my canon product manual so I can manipulate all the settings you taught us about.
Truly valuable information!
Thanks again.
It looks as though it was a really successful event! I have read that the information presented was fantastic. I was sorry I couldn’t be there (any chance of a FBF event in Salt Lake City?), but I’m looking forward to meeting you at BlogHer Food.
