Stories of Friendship from Food Blog Forum Disney World

Magic happens in different ways. Often times it happens in special life moments that are un-expected, yet full of meaning. Or magic can be a random act of kindness, like a hug or a kiss. Last week magic happened for us at Food Blog Forum in the form of friendship and community at the most likely place on Earth— at Disney World!

Seriously, the hugest thank you goes out to all the wonderful folks at Disney World in Orlando for their un-surpassed generosity and support in sponsoring our Food Blog Forum event. Words can’t describe the care, attention and detail they put forth in organizing and helping us make this event beyond amazing. From the venue, to the park hopper passes, accommodations at the Polynesian resort, and fantastic food from all the Disney resort chefs, Disney World truly made happy magic for us all.

This event also could not have been made possible without our partners Jaden and Scott from Steamy Kitchen and the terrific organization, patience and planning of Julie The Little Kitchen and Dawn Viola. Our beloved sponsors also were tremendously generous too and a huge thank you to KitchenAid, OXO, Whole Foods and Land O Lakes.

Thank you to all our panelists and speakers took the time to share their expertise on the round-table panels. This event could not have been a success without you all. Visit this page to see all our wonderful speakers & sponsors.

Todd & Diane – ‘Believe in Your Story”      photo credit –

We (Todd & Diane) shared our presentation on photography/video/storytelling and each presented roundtables on photography editing and a live photography/styling shoot (with Aran from Cannelle Vanille). Jaden Hair led an informative panel on PR Perspectives, Dawn talked about blogging to become a professional and David Leite shared his witty & funny presentation on writing. And our leader of the day was Scott Hair (the .com side of Steamy Kitchen), who continued to inspire us all to dream big and life our live with intention and love. All these people are amazing and we are so lucky to have them as friends!

But beyond all the presentations, Disney rides and amazing Disney food, the heart and soul of this event was the energy of the attendees.  The spirit of community and friendship that all the attendees shared was what really fueled this conference. This gathering was really life changing for us. We met some of the most wonderful people that this community has to offer and their support was tremendous.

There were many tears shed, hugs shared and personal stories of both triumphs and tribulations that were passed around. We all bonded in a very special and unique way that doesn’t often happen at other large conferences. When we started Food Blog Forum with Jaden and Scott a few years ago, our goal was to bring people together and be able to bond beyond recipes, beyond blogging and beyond photography.

Life happens outside the blog too and hopefully this weekend was one such weekend that new friendships were forged that will live for a long time, even without the blogs.

The new friends and beautiful faces that we were finally able to meet beyond twitter/facebook happened on this magical weekend. And again, a most heart felt and tremendous thank you to Disney World and Whole Foods for providing us the venue and opportunity to gather and build on this fellowship of food bloggers that we are so proud to be a part of.

hugs and love to you all, xoxo

I was so bummed I had spring break plans that week already to see my parents – it looked like a great event!

  2. Anne

We were there last week! I can’t wait to go back.

  3. Jeanette

Todd and Diane, thank you both for the inspirational message you gave on Saturday morning. You moved me and so many others to tears with your heart touching story, and helped put things in perspective. Thank you for being so generous with your time and knowledge. It’s the first FBF I’ve attended, and I thoroughly enjoyed the smaller, more intimate size. All the speakers were incredible and I came away from the experience with so many to-do’s. Hope you are both well and hope to see you again soon.

  4. michelle @ The Village Cook

Aw! You guys were so inspiring on so many levels~ It was my first time hearing y’all speak~ which was something I always wanted to do ever since I started blogging. And, that fact that I almost wasn’t able to attend (gasp!) It was a wish granted for me! Thank you for your kindness & honesty and “down to earth-ness”. Hoping to hear y’all again one day in the future. xoxo!

  5. Angela

Why wasn’t I there? Hate to miss a party! Looks like a great event and having heard all of you speak, I’m sure it was!

  6. Denise @ Creative Kitchen

I’m so grateful to be part of this wonderful community! I loved your inspiring presentation, and also the chance to learn from you in the food styling & photography session. Your passion is contagious, and I’m so glad that you guys along with Jaden and Scott started up Food Blog Forum. How blessed I am to live in Florida to reap the benefit of all the hard work Julie and Dawn put into the event. You guys are all amazing. Thanks again!! 🙂

  7. Damaris @KitchenCorners

I can not believe you and Todd, Jadyn, and Elise keep organizing these things. It seems like so much work. Good work though. Generous work. Maybe next year I’ll get to see you guys again either at Food Blog Camp or at Food Blog Forum.

  8. Gerry @ Foodness Gracious

I’m with Averie, I wasn’t sure who I’d know and what if I didn’t know anyone? These thoughts are just silly though because when you put so many people who share the same passions and drive in the same spot, how could anyone not have something in common with someone else? The food blogging community amazes me, It truly is like one giant global family…
Thanks, and Averie I wasn’t saying you were silly 😉

  9. Kiran @

Love you both and everyone!! It was truly a magical experience and hopefully we would be able to recreate something just as joyous 🙂

  10. Karen Milling

I was in Orlando just a week before this event! Sounds like it was incredible. Maybe next year…

  11. Lana

I heard from so many that this conference was one of the best (if not the best). One of these days I will have to make a trek to Florida to see all of you in action. I wish I had a chance to finally meet so many people who attended:(
But I am glad that it was a success!
    Have a great week!

wonderful blog post bring me the details of this magical weekend!

  21. Susan in the Boonies

What a special event that sounds like!

Blissdom was awesome, but now I WANT to go to a food blogging conference so much!

I cannot imagine the challenge the folks at Disney must have felt to be providing a huge meal for a bunch of foodies! That must have been daunting to them. Sounds like they rose to the occasion.

  22. Michelle

This makes me want to make more personal contacts in this community.

  23. lynn @ the actor's diet

i’m going to disneyworld next month! would love to hear your favorite bites there!

  24. Averie @ Averie Cooks

I don’t know why I didn’t register and attend…well, I thought I wouldn’t know anyone. Turns out, I would have known like 50 people, including you two. Next year!!

Thanks for the wonderful blog post and the link to all the other posts…wow!
