Notes from the Air: Heading to Cuba

by on October 27, 2011

Hello from 30,000 ft in the air everyone! We’re headed to Cuba as part of a personal project that’s been in the works for a long time. Can’t spill the beans just yet, but we’re very anxious to share with you the reason for our personal journey here soon.

It feels as if we’ve been playing catch up over the last couple month. With working on the road in 5 states over the last 2 months, speaking at conferences in Utah & Nashville, 2 different workshops in Denver, and one in Los Angeles, not to mention shooting for clients in our studio when we actually were home, we’ve been in dire need of a personal trip.

So this Cuba trip is much needed to re-fuel the soul and stay creative on a personal level. It’s always been a dream for us to experience Cuba on an intimate and personal level. To be able to photograph and film this gorgeous country, the culture, people and food will be a dream finally coming true.

Stay tuned for all the images and videos,

diane and todd

I have never been to Cuba and have always wanted to go. Seeing your photos and the amazing-ness that I know you will capture will be the next best thing to going.

I hope you two have an amazing time and can recharge your batteries and soak up every wonderful second of your trip!

How exciting. I’m super jealous. It’s suppose to be amazing and I’m sure there is much to photograph. I thought it was restricted travel for americans? Has that been lifted? Maybe I’m out of the loop. Say to Cuba for my dog Ginger, she’s a Havanese – they are native to Cuba. I wanted to name her Cha Cha but my boyfriend refused LOL! Enjoy and can’t wait to see the photos. If you see a Havanese – take a picture for me…it could be my dogs long lost relative LOL!

My cousin was in Cuba a few years ago and really loved the music, the dance, the food and the vibrant colors she saw everywhere. Enjoy!!

I cannot wait to see your pictures! I’ve heard its still just like the 1950′s – old cars and all. Enjoy!

I just got back from Cuba on Saturday night, it was beautiful and I’m going to miss it! however, I wish you good luck getting out of Cuba because my family certainly had a difficult time! The airport service and plane ride home were horrible and its a miracle we didn’t get put in jail (and it wasn’t even our fault!)

Hi Todd and Diane – We were in Cuba on a trip with the Museum of Latin American Art (Long Beach) about a decade ago.
It is such a photogenic place, looking forward to experiencing the country through your eyes.
Safe travels,
LL

Can’t wait to hear all about it in words and pictures! I assume you’ve heard of The Buena Vista Social Club? If not, I recommend you head to your favorite music site and take a listen. This album is what has put a visit to Cuba on my bucket list and I have a feeling you’ll love it too now that you’re getting to experience Cuba first-hand.

Buen Viaje!
