Overwhelmed by today’s loss. We watched, listened and joined the world in grief, full of tears. Our day was silent and numbing.
We’re at loss for words. But this poem helped convey much of how we were feeling. Through this video we made, we remember the lost and hold tightly to those that are dear to us.

It’s my fault. I’m the one to blame for being so forgetful that we have a teething puppy in the house. I know this.
But sometimes I’m exhausted at the end of the day and when I plop myself on to the couch to exhale in rest relief, I just drop my flip flops by my side. Without thinking, I’ll then drag my body to bed and leave the shoes where they landed: about 3 feet from a snoring puppy. If you’ve ever seen a » Read the full story →
I turned 40 years old this month. Gosh, that feels like such a significant number when heard in the context of “over the hill”. In my teens, the big 40 felt like such a far distance away. I had my vision of where I wanted my life to go and what I’d be doing. The dream I had for myself was to finish medical school and be serving the Peace Corps on assignment in Africa, somewhere. In between my life in Africa, I wanted to » Read the full story →
Pinch me to remind me that this weekend has finally arrived. Summer is officially ending on the calender, but by looking at all the wonderful produce around me, Summer still wants to hang around for a few more weeks. I’m still loving the tomatoes that keep ripening on the vines and oh our watermelons are just starting to peak and plump out!
I was organizing all the images we captured during our Summer travels and re-lived some incredibly meaningful moments of food, discoveries and new » Read the full story →
Lexi says “Hello Friends!!!”. She’s probably going to be a little confused at all this blogging world, but hopefully you all can re-assure here that you’re all a group of super nice folks who will welcome her to the blog with open arms!
Meet Lexi, our itsy-bity-tiny cute-sy Rhodesian Ridgeback puppy, aka “Peanut”.
Her nickname given to her by her breeders is “Peanut” because she is the runt of the litter of 11 puppies. Lexi “Peanut” is almost nine weeks old now, but when she » Read the full story →
** At the request of those who have seen it, we’re finally sharing this private poached egg video we produced back in December 2011. We’ve only shared it at our Cuba photo night event, KitchenAid Luncheon and Food Blog Forum Orlando. Hope you enjoy it!
It’s the little details in life that always fascinate us. We often just sit and witness the small life moments that happen both in and out of our kitchen. It’s those little things that are so inspiring to us to » Read the full story →

Magic happens in different ways. Often times it happens in special life moments that are un-expected, yet full of meaning. Or magic can be a random act of kindness, like a hug or a kiss. Last week magic happened for us at Food Blog Forum in the form of friendship and community at the most likely place on Earth— at Disney World!
Seriously, the hugest thank you goes out to all the wonderful folks at Disney » Read the full story →
gathering from the garden again, it’s Spring: meyer lemons & thyme
It’s Friday and we’re excited to be home sweet home for the weekend in our own beds, warm with Sierra doggie cuddles. And to see the garden in pre-Spring blooms is extra exciting!
The last 2 weeks of travel have been so fabulous because of the new people that we were able to finally meet. Though we are on the road and in the air to reach destinations for work, shoots, workshops or conferences » Read the full story →

Our bags are officially unpacked for the next 2 weeks and it feels so great to not be living out of a suitcase. The last 2 weeks have been a bit crazy, even for our normally busy schedule.
Within 10 days accomplished the following: we drove to and attended the WPPI conference in Las Vegas (yeah – Vegas baby!); a mere 12 hours later we were on a flight to Nashville to speak at the Blissdom conference; then after getting home, we » Read the full story →
I remember a tweet from Olga of @Sassyradish about a year ago sharing the news that she had left her career on Wall Street. Olga was a risk taker, a determined dreamer and I very impressed. I love people who take chances.
She plunged head first into what she really loved to do, and that was food and writing. I knew from that moment on that her blog would be breathing a new energy from a woman living a life with intention. I love people » Read the full story →
We’re back from a fabulous week in Florida from a visit with our friend Jaden from Steamy Kitchen. We helped her during her cookbook shoot and after eating half the recipes in the book, we’re ten pounds heavier. That’s what happens during a cookbook shoot where the food is real. It’s a tough job, taste testing, but we’re always up for the challenge! Jaden’s cooking is so bright, fresh and flavorful, her new cookbook is sure to be a staple on your cookbook shelf.

There is always a first time for everything. We’re continually embracing all of our new experiences and searching for new projects to push us further creatively and personally. But for the last 10 years when we had our family portrait and special events studio business, we had always dodged requests to photograph weddings.
The thought of photographing a wedding is just exhausting. We understand the intense amount of work it takes to photograph a wedding well. It’s a huge responsibility to capture the epic day » Read the full story →
