Eating & Shooting Boulder, CO

It’s been a heck of a few months and to round off our busiest shooting season ever, we landed in gorgeous Boulder, CO to teach a food photography workshop with Jen and Helen. The mountain scenery was to die for and we polished-off some of the best food that Boulder offered (at least a hint of it in a short 3 days – so much great food there), all in the company of great people and workshop attendees.»

Thanks to the heart-warming emails about our last blood orange margarita post, we think about all you blogger folks in the colder parts of the country that don’t get much sunshine, let alone fresh citrus. We’re spoiled because we get to bathe in warm sunshine and drink ourselves silly with fresh blood oranges from the tree.

So that we don’t seem selfish or caddy to rub our blood orange collection in front of everyone, it’s time to share. Blood orange giveaway!!!

Black Garlic Noodles – Umami blast

Black Garlic Noodles – Umami blast

Black garlic has been on my list of ingredients to cook with and now thanks to my friend, Jaden of Steamy Kitchen who had a package of black garlic cloves sent to me via David of Earthly Delights,  black garlic is gently perfuming my kitchen with it’s mild pungence. I grew up with fiercely fermented, powerfully pungent foods, so the offer of finally trying a much anticipated aged black garlic was welcomed with open arms and drooled saliva on the kitchen floor.

Since childhood, the »

See’s Candies Giveaway Winner

It’s time to announce the winner of See’s Candies Giveaway! Thank you to everyone who left such endearing comments.  You’re clever turns of phrase and witty humor made picking a winner incredible difficult for the kind folks at See’s Candies. At first the comments were all so wonderful, that the people at See’s were stammering at the task of choosing the “worthiest” comment for a winner.  But they tightened their belts, pulled out the hankies, buckled down and chose a winner for this giveaway.

Tamarind Crab and Secrets of the Red Lantern Cookbook giveaway!

Tamarind Crab and Secrets of the Red Lantern Cookbook giveaway!

It’s not often that I can get excited about a cookbook enough to want to snuggle with it on the couch and to read it cover to cover.  Most of the time, I’ll scan through a cookbook and bookmark particular interesting recipes that jump off the page. But I found one book that not only had me hooked from the very first page, but had me laughing, crying and stomach growling at the same time. If anyone saw me, they’d think that I was an »

Vietnamese Cinnamon – & Give Away drawing!

Vietnamese Cinnamon – & Give Away drawing!

If we could put a stick of true Vietnamese cinnamon into the hands of every cook, Chef and epicurean, the food world would be a sweeter, more aromatic place. We’re that obsessively addicted and devoted to this amazing spice. So enamored with it that we brought back a whole suitcase full of it back from Vietnam. Luckily the US customs search dogs were on lunch break, or else we would have been sniffed out and questioned if we really cooked with the wood or smoked »

Pie-man Todd’s, “Silky Chocolate Whiskey Tangerine Pie” for Evil Chef Mom’s 3.14 Pie Day Event ….& Sharing The Love Edition #4….Whew! That’s a long title!

Diane : The title pretty much says it all, except for the drama that unfolded for this event. Without having to divulge into too much detail (he was mean to me), here are the facts summarizing the process:

  • We need to bake a pie for Krysta’s 3.14 Pie Day. So many pie ideas get tossed around.
  • I wanted to make a totally fresh, delectable and light tropical mango pie, full of naturally sweet, juicy mangoes that are riped to perfection. Todd wants to make a

Sharing The Love #3- The Art of Spicing

You should see the state of our pantry right now, it’s full, it’s bright, it’s brimming with worldly goods, it smells great and it’s a mess. We have way too many spices/sauces/dried goods/noodles/occasional stale bags of potato chips (what a waste!)/lost and then found half eaten candy bars (I knew I put it somewhere in here!)/ and more noodles oozing out of the cabinets. But thanks to Lydia at The Perfect Pantry, we’re cleaning out the pantry for our future submission to her weekly »
