Perfect summer gatherings, crab fest & recipes for celebrating

A perfect summer evening happened last week. Wonderful food and captivating conversations in the company of great people, on a gorgeous summer day which couldn’t have been any better for a Summer fete.

The loving and ever so gorgeous couple Brooke of FoodWoolf and her husband, Hans of BarFood, hosted a crab fest at their Los Angeles home. Their set up, attention to detail and menu was amazing. Right smack in the middle of their driveway alley, a long feasting table was set up, all »

Iron Chef Bloggers in Asheville, NC and Cherry Sauce Recipe

“Let the battle begin!”

It definitely felt like a war during our first full day on the East Coast en route to the Asheville, NC blogger bash.  I won’t divulge into the details about our horrendous experience with !&*%#! Delta Airlines, but what I will say is THANK GOODNESS for the amazing Asheville hospitality and passionate food folks that saved me from sending a three page letter to Delta. I became this (pinching my fingers together) close to going postal on Delta’s terrible infrastructure. Luckily, »

Asheville, North Carolina – local, homegrown & handmade

Have you ever dreamt of a place where the soil was lush and fertile? Where the sounds and sights of nature wrap you up in it’s peaceful beauty, and then upon further exploration you find that this magical realm’s people are even more beautiful than it’s landscape. A place where the inspiring beauty of the residents is then exceeded by their charm, warmth, and talent. And this talent is frequently directed towards producing some of the best feasting fare and whistle wetters you have ever »

Video #15 – Club Med Food & Wine Blogger Bash & many pics!

Video #15 – Club Med Food & Wine Blogger Bash & many pics!

Clearly, Todd and I don’t have tons of free time on hand, but the thrill of my week at Club Med and the gazillions of pictures and video clips forced us to free up some time. Making a video isn’t exactly a quickie project that we can do in front of the TV. A video will take us hours (tens) to complete because adding pictures, sound effects, transitions and movement suck up so much time. Honestly, learning how to use Final Cut Studio Pro is »

Our blogging has kindled friendships with folks far, wide and nearby that we never would have found otherwise. From bloggers that we have already met to those of you frequent visitors that we have yet to meet, are the reasons why we love blogging.

Club Med Bahamas -Deep sea fishing…wahooo-ooo!

Club Med Bahamas -Deep sea fishing…wahooo-ooo!

I was defeated.

Four hours of choppy ocean waves in a clean, but sardine can sized fishing boat, with one hand clutched with dear life to the edge of the boat, while the other hand was clutched on to my prized digital camera was way too much for me. I quickly (and quite discreetly) lost half my lunch into a plastic bag, without anyone really noticing my moment of equilibrium imbalance (apologizes for the visuals, but I don’t know how else to describe “upchucked”, “vomited” »

Club Med Bahamas- Green Flash Cocktail

Club Med Bahamas- Green Flash Cocktail

I can’t tell you how much I love Curacao, a flavored liqueur made from the dried peels of the laraha citrus fruit which  grown on the island of Curaçao, hence, the name. The brilliant blue color, the bright citrus/orange tones and slight bitterness of this liqueur makes a perfectly delicious and beautiful cocktail.

When Brandt Johnson, the head bartender at Club Med Columbus Isle was setting up for the evenings Food & Wine Festival cocktail demonstration, I was stunned at the beautiful tray of brilliant »

Club Med Bahamas- Fish & Cockburn Town Fun

Club Med Bahamas- Fish & Cockburn Town Fun

Preparing the day’s wahoo catch for dinner at Watlings’s

We’re continually asking ourselves what day of the week it is because when living on a small tropical island in the middle of the most magnificent blue ocean, we all lose track of time. I’m just a lucky visitor here to Club Med’s San Salvador island locale, but a girl can pretend that she’s a princess living in one of the most magical places on earth, can she not?  I certainly do every.single.day that I’ve »

Club Med Bahamas- Gazpacho Recipe + more blogger pic’s!

Chef Stephanie Izard

I’m backtracking a bit here to the first evening at Columbus Isle. The first 1/2 day flew like the wind and I’m finally getting around to looking through the photographs of the whirlwind day. Thank goodness for pictures to remind me of what all happened or else I’d have little reminder of what I ate and ……how skinnier I was 4 days ago.

Believe me, four days of Club Med gluttony has me wearing elastic waisted pants now. My size 9 jeans »

Club Med Bahamas – Day 2 -Photoshoot crazy

Club Med Bahamas – Day 2 -Photoshoot crazy

Stephanie Izard, Top Chef winner Season 4

Oh wait, what day is it today? When you’re on Bahamaian time, there’s no possible way to remember the time nor date. But I think today is Tuesday….OMG, is it really? You mean I’ve only been here two day and I’ve already consumed 10 pounds pork, fish, more protein and loads of wine?

It’s so hard to get into detail what has happened so far, all the amazing shots that I’ve taken and the amazing food that »

Heading to Club Med Bahamas for Blogger Bash!

Heading to Club Med Bahamas for Blogger Bash!

Even right at this moment as I’m frantically throwing everything but the kitchen sink into my suitcase, I’m pinching myself, not believing where I’ll be heading to. I pinched my two dogs, my mother, my brothers, the mail man and even Todd, though he does pinch back twice as hard.

Obviously all the pinch marks on my arm and my dogs are telling me that I’m not dreaming, not at all. I’m headed to Club Med Bahamas for their Food and Wine Festival! Feeling like »

Palsy Walsy Shooters for Mark (Manggy)

Palsy Walsy Shooters for Mark (Manggy)

This is open apology letter to our dear, smart, funny, handsome, brilliant, blog buddy, Dr. Mark.

Dear Mark,

Hello, how are you? Do you still remember us?  We’re those wacky blog folks that you met in Los Angeles way back in October of 2008. It’s been quite a while since our meeting and worse yet, it’s taken us this long to finally write about it and share with the blog world that we met with the AMAZING MARK from Manggy.blogspot.com!»

Chili Martini Recipe

Chili Martini Recipe

Please, don’t cringe at the name of this cocktail. Give me a chance to quickly explain this fabulous drink to you before you frown at the thought of a spicy cocktail (for those of you spice hounds who are already drooling, please immediately proceed to the recipe and mix yourself a few glasses!)  I’ve always appreciated drinks of all sorts. From sweet, pretty, fruity concoctions that make me giggle like a girl to straight from the bottle whiskey that almost grows hairs on my chest, »

Club Med, Ixtapa Mexico and Pina Colada Recipe

Club Med, Ixtapa Mexico and Pina Colada Recipe

I’m baaaack, nicely tanned, ten pounds heavier and three bottles of Tequila richer! Returning from 6 glorious days with Jaden of Steamy Kitchen at the luxurious Club Med resort in beautiful Ixtapa, Mexico has me spoiled, lazy and yearning for taco’s and spicy habanero chili’s. For a “roughing it” type of traveler gal like me, this trip to a magnificent, all inclusive, resort was like being Cinderella in Mexico. All I needed was a Mexican boyfriend Prince Charming to complete the experience, but had to »

My kind and generous blog friend, Jaden of Steamy Kitchen, is headed to Ixtapa, Mexico for a press food and wine event and I get to tag along!! We’re having another party, this time for bloggers!

We’re having another party, this time for bloggers!

We’re eating backwards today. For breakfast, we heated up the BBQ at 8:30 am and started experimenting with some grilled dishes for the party. Another party, you ask? Heck, yeah! This time, it’s for some cool blogger folks that we have come to know through cyberspace, but for most, we have yet to meet face to face, meal to meal and booze to booze! Yes, this is going to be a kick butt party with some wonderful local Southern CA food bloggers (and some out »

Blackberry Tom Collins cocktail for Jen & Jeremy

Blackberry Tom Collins cocktail for Jen & Jeremy

This post is dedicated to Miss Kaweah, the sweet and lucky black lab that gets to hike, romp and swim in Colorado’s outrageously amazing wilderness. She’s at a summer puppy camp now, enjoying a little break away from her parents.

We’re envious of not just Kaweah, but of her mommy and daddy too, known to everyone as Jen Yu and Jeremy of Use Real Butter. Everyone knows that Jen’s super duper fine photography skills keep us drooling over her delicious Asian dishes and picture »

Video #11- Fresh Jackfruit and Raffle for Briana

This is Briana Brownlow of the blog Figs with Bri. We’ve never met Bri, never visited her or even heard of her food blog. The blogosphere is so grand and monstrous, it’s just impossible to discover all the wonderful blogs out there. Luckily, last week, Manisha of Indian Food Rocks and Bee & Jai of Jugalbandi sent us an e-mail introducing us to lovely Briana and her fight against breast cancer. This time, it’s second time the cancer is attacking. Now, we really wanted »
