On the Road Again – Beautiful America

We’re on the road again. Two weeks ago we shot in Austin, TX and in St. Paul and Minneapolis, MN and captured some terrific content. Can’t wait to share those projects with you all soon. This week we’re working on location again. and again. and again. San Francisco, Portland and Seattle. But what makes this week’s work trip so exciting is that we’re road tripping it the whole way from Los Angeles.

Todd started from Los Angeles to San Francisco in the wee hours of the morning almost a week ago. From San Francisco, Diane met up with Todd and the road trip journey continued. The windows were rolled down and the playlist was on loud

Being on the road and traveling along the gorgeous open highways of the West Coast is another fine example of how beautiful this country of ours is. Usually we’re flying from one location shoot to another, but for this work trip we really wanted to explore more of our West Coast from the open road.

Joys of being on the open road allow us to discover America once again, on a more intimate level. The gorgeous and varied changing landscapes of our West Coast is truly remarkable and inspiring. We value our time together in the car because we can talk about life and work in private, while watching the scenery change as the pavement rolls under our tread.

Every so often, we’ll stop in awe at the sight surrounding us and make a quick photo with our iPhones. Although sometimes we’ll capture a photo without doing the stopping part. The scenery blur draws in the feeling of being on a roadtrip. ;) But don’t worry, we try to be as safe as we can. So far, we’ve made it to Portland safely and tomorrow morning we start our last leg to Seattle.

We’ll be shooting Shauna and Danny’s Gluten Free Girl new cookbook video promo. This should be loads of fun!

Onward,

diane and todd

How nice that the two of you can travel together on business, it makes life so much more pleasant I think.

Can you tell me, if you were to suggest just one item, besides a good camera, that’s needed to shoot great photos of food, what would you recommend one purchases?

Sounds like an exciting trip! My boyfriend and I just did a 2+ week trip from LA up the coast through Nor. Cal., Oregon, and Washington during the summer, so I completely understand about the exciting Western landscape. It’s truly gorgeous. I’m still trying to sort through the pictures to narrow it down to my favorites so I can finish blogging our adventure. I suppose that’s why I love the pics that I also took with my iphone/instagram… I made a quick blurb book out of them to hold me over while we edit down the “real” vacation photos!
Have a great trip.

I am the first to admit I often become ignorant of my surroundings and it takes a visitor to revel in the awe of our landscape to again appreciate how lucky we are to have the Rocky Mountains as part of our view every day. I saw a sunset the other night on the road to a party that was SO spectacular that I risked life and limb to pull over on the shoulder of the highway to capture a quick photo, not wanting to take that image for granted.

The photo is nice, the real deal was spectacular…I know that must be true of all you are seeing.

I’m having so much fun following the tweets from Shauna and looking at the snaps from the cookbook shoot. Now I see you two will enter the picture. I actually feel like I am on this trip with you guys or something. O.K., now I sound truly pathetic. Have fun and can’t wait to see the projects!

Have a fabulous time of it! Road tripping can be fun. Provided you aren’t traveling with a baby or a cat or a UHaul that goes 45 mph. The only times I’ve ever truly road tripped it cross country were during moves and so the thrill wore off a bit :)

But seriously guys, have a blast and have fun on all your adventures!

Safe travels! I traveled that road between Mt. Shasta and San Francisco in August of last year. There were some beautiful scenes, (especially high up in the mountains!), and some almost lunar looking landscapes on some of those hills.

I enjoy road trips and have done the drive from LA to SF, stopping at the charming towns along the way. Perhaps I should do it again when I visit the US. I have fond memories. Enjoy your journey!

I just randomly came across your blog today and almost shed a tear. We just moved to Oregon from California where I looked at Mt. Shasta every single day and I just realized how much I miss my beautiful mountain. Thank you for such a great picture of it.
