Learning together- Food & Light Workshop

Last week we returned from teaching the Food and Light Food Photography workshop with our friends Jen Yu and Matt Wright. This is the second year this amazing Boulder event took place and it couldn’t have been done without the vision, hard work and dedication of founder Jen Yu.

This years group was wonderful and spending 2 magnificent days with them all in Boulder Colorado was like no other workshop we’ve taught at. The energy, spiritual unity and desire to learn and share was off the hook. Everyone brought something to the table and learning together as a community is why we love doing what we do.

This year, Todd covered artificial lighting with speedlights and Diane taught Food styling with a live demo and taught shooting in restaurants (on location situations). It was a blast and we loved sharing everything we could.

But we also learned so much from this workshop from the attendees. So many new friends we met here shared their personal stories with us, their challenges and triumphs. This workshop wasn’t just about food photography, it was about life, friendships and pursuing our dreams. Everyone had a special story to share and a dream to pursue. It was so humbling to be a part of this amazing gathering and we all walked out of there as better photographers and most importantly, as better people.

Thank you Jen Yu , Matt Wright, Jeremy, Jason and the whole group for making us more complete in those 2 days.

hugs,

diane and todd

Wonderful workshop from you two, Jen and Matt! I felt so inspired and motivated when I got home to Atlanta – I was ready to hit the ground running! Thank you for all of your encouraging words, I learned so much and I can’t wait to see what’s in store for all of us in the future :)

I was SO so bummed that I wasn’t able to attend the workshop due to some personal issues. Keeping my fingers crossed for the next one! Hopefully you will be doing it somewhere closer to CA. Will be on a look out for the schedule for next year.

Thanks for sharing the experience with us!

Thanks to you two, Todd & Diane…you were amazing!!

And the pictures in this post…seeing them are surreal!! because I was there as you styled those peapods and salad and if I wasnt there and seen it with my own eyes, I would have sworn you spent hours and hours styling these shots..when in reality, you are both so extremely talented that you did it in about 2 minutes and took about 3 frames and were done…amazing! :)

I learned SO MUCH from you both, and from Jen and Matt, not only about photography but about myself, life, the direction(s) I can see myself going with my photography. Thank you..so much…for giving back to all of us! I have tried to pay it forward as you urged us to do on the last day, by writing 5 blog posts with tips/tricks/notes that I took.

And one day I want to see your new studio too! :)

Yep. yep. yep. My sister lives near Boulder so I really have *no* excuse for not making it to one of these (other than living in Australia … alas)!

Absolutely inspiring photos.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I had high expectations going into the class (all of the instructors are so talented!!!), and left the class with more knowledge than I thought possible. I cannot wait to start practicing. I hope you two come back again next year. :) Julie

It is a pity that I live in Europe, far away from you, guys.
It seems that workshop was so great! Nice thing is that I can read about it;)
Greetings from Poland:)
