Remembering loved ones this weekend & Hope to meet you

Another Friday has arrived and hope it’s a great one for you all. As Sept. 11 arrives again, we’re all reminded of  tragedy followed by strength, hope and love. Our thoughts are with New York City and those who have lived, lost and found again during this historic weekend.

These thoughts came to our mind as we took an evening off and went to the beach for a much needed break. Sierra hasn’t seen us much over the last few days because we’ve been working on travel plans, which doesn’t really settle with her very well.

When Sierra looks up at us, wags her whole body and exudes with enthusiasm for life, we’re reminded of all those simple things that make her happy. Time off, a walk on the beach and a moment of free play is all she needs. Really, it’s those little things that make life fulfilling.

Hope you take a few moments during this weekend to celebrate and remember all those loved ones. Hold them close and dear.

In the meantime, we’ll be traveling on some workshop trips and would love to meet you all!

Next week we’ll be presenting two sessions in Minneapolis at The Creative Connection on Food Photography and Finding your Visual Voice.  It’s our first workshop in the Midwest, so we’re excited!

In October, we’ll be meeting up with Jaden from Steamy Kitchen again for another Food Blog Forum in Nashville, Tennessee. It’s an all day event with speakers from all over the country talking blogging, social media, branding and photography.

We’ll be talking Food Photography and Styling in Tennessee Food Blog Forum and it would be wonderful if you could all join us. Food Blog Forum Tennessee is being organized by the amazing team of Lindsay Landis of Love & Olive Oil, Beth Sachan of Eat.Drink.Smile., and Leah Short of So How’s it Taste. It’s sure to be a great Friday party and Saturday event.

Happy weekend,

Diane and Todd

Besides 10 years since 9/11, it’s also 6 months since 3/11 and the beginning of the ongoing nuclear disaster in Japan, with 15.000 dead and 80.000 still living in shelters, having lost their homes.
My heart goes out to all who suffer.

Nice to be travelling across the country. I hope that someday you’ll do a photography course in the Northeast. Have a great week-end!

Due to my husband’s heart attack and bypass surgery in May, and the ensuing medical bills, we don’t think we’ll be able to afford the $200.00 or so to come. My dear husband is my food photographer, and his skills have been growing by leaps and bounds since we’ve been reading Hélène Dujardin’s book, Plate to Pixel. We’re so excited by the improved quality of the pictures he’s been taking! But we have so much more we’d love to learn!

If you hear of any tickets to the Nashville event that are going to go unused because someone suddenly can’t make it at the last minute, please, please, please let us know. (Or have the Powers That Be let us know!) I’d give anything to be able to be there, and we’re only about 30 minutes driving distance away.

Have fun in the Midwest! I wish I could make it up for the conference. If you at all get a chance check out Bar La Grassa, amazing food in an energetic yet comfortable atmosphere. We ate there on our last trip to the Twin Cities and loved it.

I really wish I could join you in Nashville in October. I’ll be a relatively short plane-ride away, but I just can’t make it work.

So well said. Sierra looks so doggy happy. I marvel at the incredible reception my husband receives each and every day when he returns from work from our Chester. Will never forget 9/11. We had just arrived in Japan the day before the bombing… for a year long assignment. We couldn’t understand anything. The time change had us confused. We drove aimlessly because we could catch one english channel. It was something indeed.

Wow! What a great lineup and lots of events.

I grew up in Mpls, went to college there, before I got smart and got outta the snow and live in sunny SoCal! Have fun and I know the people there will show you some Minnesota Nice & great hospitality!
