Hi Friends, how has your 2012 been treating you? We still can’t believe this month is coming to and end. Wasn’t it just yesterday that we were wishing a farewell t0 2011 with our Life Recipes video? Maybe that’s what being on the road and being buried in work does to ones grasp of time. But we wouldn’t have it any other way because we feel so lucky to be working with fabulous people and photography projects.

As you can tell, we’ve been a bit absent on recipe sharing over the last few months. We miss being away from our »

This week we’re working on location again. and again. and again. San Francisco, Portland and Seattle. But what makes this week’s work trip so exciting is that we’re road tripping it the whole way from Los Angeles.»

Momofuku Ssam Bar – New York City

July 15, 2010
momofuku ssam bar

As soon as we booked our tickets to New York City for a work shoot at The French Culinary Institute, we knew Momofuku Ssam Bar was on our hit list of “must eats”.  This is how we run our business affairs: secure the contract, book the clients, think about where to eat in the city and then figure out the rest of the project logistics.

Eat Now. Work Later.

Barely even walking into the hotel, with just enough time to drop our bags down and grab our cameras,  we immediately headed out to David Chang’s hot spot with our friend »

Feasting your eyes on this amazing buttermilk pancake syrup just isn’t enough. You have to taste it to believe that it really is the best buttermilk syrup recipe around. We were completely won over after the first bite and once we licked the plate clean of the clingy decadence, we were convinced that it really is a rock-star buttermilk syrup recipe. Breakfast will never be the same!

Thanks to Thermador for inviting us out to their showroom in Scottsdale, AZ, we were able to feast on their prize winning pancakes and buttermilk syrup. Along with a fabulous group of other »

It’s been a heck of a few months and to round off our busiest shooting season ever, we landed in gorgeous Boulder, CO to teach a food photography workshop with Jen and Helen. The mountain scenery was to die for and we polished-off some of the best food that Boulder offered (at least a hint of it in a short 3 days – so much great food there), all in the company of great people and workshop attendees.»

Having the opportunity to spend three days in Sonoma wine country is thrilling enough, but to go there and experience grilling classes under the direction of Kingsford University and wrapped up in the hospitality of Seghesio Family Vineyards left us pinching ourselves to check if we were dreaming or not.

Wood Burning Oven Bakers in Asheville – Roasted beets, chevre, rosemary pastry recipe

July 25, 2009
Savory Puff Pastry Recipes

Hidden amongst the the fertile farmlands of Asheville, NC are some amazing wood fired craft bakeries that are producing some of the best breads and pastries that we’ve ever had.

Maybe 30 minutes outside of town, we found ourselves on a small gravel road nestled in the green and fertile hills of Western North Carolina. The van was too tall to pass through the driveway’s trees unscathed, so we walked the beautiful 5-10 minutes to Wake Robin Farm Breads.

After snagging some wild black raspberries along the driveway, we rounded the final bend to discover a charming home surrounded by »

Iron Chef Bloggers in Asheville, NC and Cherry Sauce Recipe

“Let the battle begin!”

It definitely felt like a war during our first full day on the East Coast en route to the Asheville, NC blogger bash.  I won’t divulge into the details about our horrendous experience with !&*%#! Delta Airlines, but what I will say is THANK GOODNESS for the amazing Asheville hospitality and passionate food folks that saved me from sending a three page letter to Delta. I became this (pinching my fingers together) close to going postal on Delta’s terrible infrastructure. Luckily, it was the warmth of Sheridan and Dodie that kept me from un-leashing my inner »
