A new blogging event has just launched and this time, it’s a fun, free for all celebration of Summer’s bounty! Started last Summer by Margaret Roach of Away to Garden and Deb Puchalla, which was called Food Fest, lovers of everything fresh, delicious, and/or from the garden shared ideas and recipes from across the globe. Last summer’s event was a cross-blog event where they would announce a food or “crop” in advance and they would then swap recipes, growing tips, lore and whatever else came up. Kumquat Tea

Kumquat Tea Recipe -
Ingredients
1 kumquat
hot water
honey (to taste)
1.» Crush 1 kumquat into a glass, making sure the juices from the rind are released. Top off with hot water. Let kumquat infuse for a few minutes. Add some honey or sugar to taste.

My last rant about Mom’s nuoc man noodle party seemed to fuel her real flame. I thought all was said and done after the fish sauce initiation episode at the nail shop, but now this woman is really afire. I’ve seen her bring some crazy meals into the shop, but today had to top it all off.

Everyone’s talking about Mom’s Nước Mắm, fish dipping sauce. Now that she’s hired 3 newbies all at one once, “it’s time”, Mom says to bring her beloved fish sauce that all the staff veterans have been raving about.

Like any initiation or hazing event to deem yourself worthy of entrance into an elite club, our nail shop has it’s own similar introductory ritual.
